Do you offer classes near my home? Classes are taught throughout the US . Check with local community education departments or parks and recreation office to see if classes are offered in your area. If these classes are not offered through your local office or school district, request that your local community ed or parks and rec offer these classes. A PARENT`S VOICE IS A POWERFUL ONE! How long do the classes run? Typically, our classes meet for 2 hours, weekly, for 4 weeks.

What classes do you offer? Junior Engineering 1 &2, Elementary Engineering 1, Junior Vehicle and Vehicle Engineering and ROBOTICS ACADEMY. For an updated list, please see our Classes for Kids page.

What are the age recommendations for each class? Junior Engineering is appropriate for children ages 5-7. Elementary Engineering 1, Collision Cars and Vehicle Engineering is appropriate for children ages 8 and up. Video Game Making and ROBOTICS ACADEMY is appropriate for children ages 10 and up.

What will the children learn? We use our LEGO® kits full parts and pieces, called LEGO® elements, which are not available in stores. Junior Engineering and Engineering 1 teaches the children about engineering concepts as they apply to these LEGO® elements. In these classes, the children learn about gears, levers, pulleys, wheels, axles, motors, piston rods, cams, plates, sensors, brain modules, and more. By the time the student is enrolled in the ROBOTICS ACADEMY class, they will know enough about engineering, and how it applies to these LEGO® elements, that they can actually build a robot that is limited only to their imagination, and program it through wireless communication with software on a laptop computer. The children will learn to program and control motors, light sensors, touch sensors, and rotational sensors.

What is the class size? The children are teamed in small groups, so that only 2 students share a kit. The class size is usually limited to 24 students, the minimum size is 12.

What academic areas do these classes cover? The four main academic areas that our classes cover are Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. The fifth area is FUN!

What is your affiliation with FIRST LEGO® League? Our classes prepare students to successfully compete in the LEGO® competitions. FIRST is an acronym: For the Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology. FIRST LEGO® Leagues are usually formed by parents who wish to have their teams compete at local, state and national levels. The 2003 state competition in Michigan was held at the Novi Expo Center in Novi, Michigan. It was sponsored by the GM Proving Grounds. Does my child take anything home? As you know, LEGO® pieces can be used to build many different things. Throughout our classes, children build several different projects using the same parts and pieces from our kits. Our kits contain from 220 to over 1200 parts and pieces. These kits are very expensive and are not available in any store. If we included a kit to be taken home by the student, our classes would be double to triple the price that we currently charge.

Where do you offer classes? Our classes are typically offered as after school classes, evening classes, holiday and summer camps, and as on-site field trips. These classes are offered in joint partnerships with Community Education, Adult Education, Continuing Education, Parks and Recreation offices, Middle and Elementary Schools and Museums.
